Congratulations to the following students who prepared for and participated in the Richardson Music Teachers Association Fall Festival. This year the repertoire was taken from the Baroque Era of music history (1600 - 1750).

Those receiving a Superior with Honor rating:

Faith T, 8th grade, Minuet in D Minor by Buttstet.

Those receiving a Superior rating:

Samuel X, 6th grade, Prelude in F Major by J. S. Bach.
Thomas L, 6th grade, Musette in D Major by J. S. Bach.

Amber M, 9th grade, Sonata in A Major K83b by Scarlatti.
Santiago R, 9th grade, Saraband by Handel

Performing music from the Baroque era is challenging. The dedication and discipline needed to perform these pieces is a testimony to the skill levels of these students.

Thank you for visiting my website. I teach piano lessons. But what does that mean?

Piano lessons are more than:

...learning to read music notes.

...depressing the correct keys.

...developing physical abilities in order to perform with dazzling virtuosity.

...understanding how to take apart and put together music (i.e., music theory).

...disciplined training of the fingers, hands, wrists, forearms, and shoulders.

...exercises and finger drills.

...performing for friends, neighbors, festivals and competitions.

...expanding neural pathways in the brain.

...appreciating music from different eras.

Learning to play the piano most certainly involves all these things. But most importantly, taking piano lessons results in expressing the depths of our soul through meaningful and beautiful sounds.

I teach piano lessons with joy and passion. I welcome you or your child to enter into the discovery of making music at the piano. Let's meet to arrange for lessons.
